"Upa Neguino" is by Brazilian artist Elis Regina (d.1982). Phrasing like no other singer.
Heroes:
My first exposure to trumpet was Timofei Dokschitzer and Maynard Ferguson, but my true hero is a beautiful mother who can reeaaally sing. Ironically, it's her sound in my head.
I bought a trumpet from Felix in Sept. '07. It is by far the best horn I've ever played. He has been knowlegable, patient, and flexible. His horns are the among the best being produced anywhere. Bravo to NYTC!
The amount of work and level of erudition you have demonstrated in completely you DMA is much more than impressive. It is an amazing accomplishment. It is a tribute to the support of your family and your hard work and perserverance. My hat's off to you. Thanks so much for sharing your experience!
I would love to come down and do another TrumpetFest,Just tell me the time and date, and I'll be there. It's only a 2 hour flight.:)
Thanks for the invite,JC.
It's a Taylor standard Flugel, circa 2000. It is a particularly good horn, and I use a deep v cup. Felix Veyser makes a great FLugel. Check out his NEw YOrk Trumpet Company site.
Thanks for your comments, my good friend. You've done a great job on your page here...and I'm proud to add the first comment! Folks...get to know John...he is a rare talent. True fluidity across all registers...and simply gorgeous tone. Proud to call him, friend.
