Profile Information

I play these instruments...
Bb Trumpet, A/Bb Piccolo, Flugelhorn, Cornet
I perform...
Contemporary Jazz, Solo Literature, Church/Worship
Playing Level:
Semi-pro, Complete Hack!
My preferred equipment:
Factory-built stock instrument, Modified/Custom Horn
I started playing trumpet:
September 1, 1971
My most memorable trumpet experience:
1= Hearing my trumpet instructor, Michael Denovchek of the Cincinnati Symphony for 37+ years, play at lessons for 6 years until his passing in '79. 2= Meeting and chatting with Doc Severinsen after a concert with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. Wonderful man & fantastic player. 3= attending a Maurice Andre concert in Lexington, KY around 1983 - he didn't miss 1 note all night and was amazing! His legato tonguing was so smooth, it was like instant tone without any attack at all. Sounded like dripping ice cream.
Personal trumpet aspiration:
To exalt God....if someone decides to join me, that is cool.
About Me:
I've been playing trumpet now for over 40 years. I think everyone has gifts and talents in life and I'm glad that one of mine is playing music. I am thankful for this gift and don't ever want to bury it or ignore it. I enjoy playing all types of music, but always desire it to be something that magnifies God because most of my best moments in life have involved worshiping Him. I hope that my music can help others draw closer to Him too.

* My main equipment: Adams A4 SC Bb, Romeo Adaci Referenz Bb, 1961 Getzen 90PB Power Bore Custom, Getzen 3850 Custom Series Cornet, Weril Regium 9172 Flugel, Marcinkiewicz Proline, Curry, and Brasswind Research mouthpieces.
Interests:
Beside what I've already stated... music, cars, music in cars... I like fine Swiss watches too and scooters (with motors)!
Heroes:
Ultimate hero = Jesus. Other heroes: my dad, every US soldier. Trumpet heroes: Michael Denovchek, Rick Braun, Phil Driscoll, MF, Arturo Sandoval, Al Vizzutti, Jeff Tyzik, Doc Severinsen, Chuck Mangione and countless other trumpeters as well as musicians that don't play trumpet...
Hope to find___________ in Trumpet City...

Check out the Great American Brass Band Festival in Danville, KY. You are so close. If you've been you know how great it is, if you have never been, you need to go.

Hi Blaine thanks for your comment. This horn is a baroque trumpet Naumann-Eklund.

You can get one by Barry Baugess on his website http://www.baroquetrumpet.com.

Hey Blaine,
if thats you on Great us the Lord and Funny Valentine and you call yourself a complete Hack then maybe its time for me to give up the trumpet. Praise the Lord Bro. Loved your profile. Do check out my blog. I have devotions put in there almost everyday and currently have two articles on trumpet and Jazz. Love the look of your horns. Keep in touch

Blaine,
Yep, I'm the one. Glad to see you're doing well and still at it. We're looking forward to our chance in the Swamp this weekend. If our D-Linemen could keep from being quoted in the paper it might help.
I'm still trying to play some high notes. Some nights they are higher than others, but I'm staying pretty busy.
