I have really been diggin on Sean Jones lately. The guy can seriously bring it, Kaleidoscope is just down. He can solo as well as play great lead (Lincoln Center). He got into jazz the exact way I did---Kind of Blue and Tutu. Once I heard Miles--- "Chameleon" was my 3rd option for my...Hate to say this, but my cassette player;)-
Sean just turned 30 this May, and he's already making history. Roy Hargrove is another player I have always been into.

... my musical tastes are all over the board... but if we're talking trumpets... which i assume we are... i never get tired of wynton (reeltime or big train or mr. jelly lord) and louis (anything really but azaela happens to be my favorite song). i like seeing matt shulman and kermit ruffins live... i like shamarr allen's new album. i saw sean jones at orchestra hall here in minneapolis a while back. lately i've been hitting "repeat" on my buena vista social club and cubana albums. paul simon's songs from the capeman album has some great trumpet lines in it as well. and last but not least... some of my favorite, and some of the least technically impressive trumpet playing i've ever heard ... every album by CAKE
